Localization Services lets organizations deploy fully localized reporting applications.
These applications support localized interface strings, metadata object names and
descriptions, and localized number formatting for date, time, and currency.
Within Strategy, a single metadata object can support many local translations.
These translations are stored in the metadata repository and are leveraged when a
user is set up to use a particular language.
Developers can easily enter translations for individual metadata objects using the
translation editor, or leverage the Metadata Repository Translation tool to extract
and load translations for many objects at the same time.
The Strategy Repository Translation toll is a utility that helps you support multiple
languages in a Strategy project. You use the Repository Translation Wizard to extract
strings from metadata objects and copy the strings into a separate database. These strings
can contain information about the name, ID, description, and so on, of the objects in the
metadata. Once the data is in the separate database, you can use a third-party translation
tool to translate the strings into your preferred language. You can then use the Repository
Translation tool again to import the translated strings back into the metadata and update the
object properties with your translations.
The wizard supports command line execution, to automate the export
and re-import process. The Repository Translation Wizard is especially useful for translating
a large number of objects in a metadata at one time. Alternatively, you can translate individual
objects, one at a time, using an object's Properties dialog box. This tool helps administrators
to export and import translations in supported end-user languages/ or business terms for objects
in the Strategy Metadata Repository.
