Save the emails to file option saves the email as many times as the number of the recipients in the “To” filed.

Ramses Castro Cabrera

Senior Cloud Support Engineer II • MicroStrategy

A transmitter is a MicroStrategy software component that Distribution Services use to package subscribed reports and documents into files or emails and send those files or emails to recipients. It is easy to test an email transmitter by using the Save to File check box on the Email Transmitter Editor's Message Output tab.

KB486111SYMPTOM:

When creating a subscription, the email is sent correctly, however if the option “Save to file” for the Transmitter is selected, instead of saving one email with multiple recipients, the system saves the email as many times as the number of the recipients in the “To” filed.

REASON:

This is an expected behavior.

The Save to file option will save the email to file for each recipient, that's the current behavior. This means that if multiple contacts or addresses are listed in this field, the email will be saved the same number of times of the recipients listed.

Each recipient will receive only one email if their email address is not identical, but all the recipients will be displayed in the To field which is expected behavior.

For more detailed information about the Transmitter configuration, please refer to the documentation.
