This Knowledge Base describes a working by design behavior for view report (subset report) caching feature.

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy 10.x, Subset Report Cache is being shared if “Create Intelligent Cubes by database connection” is enabled as shown below:

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create an intelligent cube named CABC. Create a view report based on that cube. Name it as VRCABC
  2. Under project configuration> caching> intelligent cubes, check “Create intelligent cube per DB connection”
  3. Create two users named a1,a2
  4. Go to project configuration->go to WH Db instance and then create 2 new DB connections. One with name A1, and another with name a2
  5. Go to project configuration->DB instances->connection mapping->create connection mappings for users A1 and a2 by choosing DB connection created from step4.
  6. Login as administrator, Run cube CABC. cube cache C1 is created
  7. Login as A1 and run cube. Cube cache C2 is created
  8. Login as A2 and run CABC. Cube cache C3 is created
  9. Now login as A1 and run view report VRCABC
  10. View report cache is created (Note that DB connection info from quick view of cache for view report cache is empty)
  11. Now login as  A2 and run the same view report
  12. The cache from step 11 is hit.

NOTE: project configuration>Caching>Report cache>cache per DB connection at report cache level is not enabled.

CAUSE:

This is a working as designed behavior.

If the "create cache by database connection" is not enabled for cache, then the DB connection is not being added into cache key. Thus, the subset report cache will be shared for different users.

ACTION:

Enable the setting “Create Caches per database connection” If “Create Intelligent Cubes by database connection” is enabled as shown below:

NOTE:
The view report (subset report) caching feature is disabled by default as shown below, and it could be enabled manually at report level.
