KB483052: System prompts based on LDAP attributes show incorrect values when using Integrated authentication

Frederick Kellerman

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article discusses an issue that can occur with system prompts when logging in with Integrated authentication

OVERVIEW
When logging in with Integrated authentication users may notice that system prompts based on a previously imported LDAP attribute show incorrect values. When viewing the SQL for the report the prompt resolves to a string of numbers instead of the correct value. For example, in the SQL below notice that the value for [CUST_LAST_NAME] is a sequence of numbers instead of the correct value for the user running the report.

select	distinct a11.[CUSTOMER_ID] AS CUSTOMER_ID,
	a11.[CUST_LAST_NAME] AS CUST_LAST_NAME,
	a11.[CUST_FIRST_NAME] AS CUST_FIRST_NAME
from	[LU_CUSTOMER]	a11
where	a11.[CUST_LAST_NAME] = '1234567890123456'

CAUSE
The issue can occur if Strategy Intelligence server is not properly configured to synchronize Integrated authentication with LDAP. Users must enable the Synchronize user/group information with LDAP during Windows authentication and import Windows Link during Batch Import setting. In addition, users must also enable 'Batch import Integrated Authentication/Trusted Authentication unique ID' should be enabled, and the correct LDAP attribute for the unique ID'.

Both settings are located under Strategy Intelligence Server Configuration->LDAP->Import->Options. Full steps for configuring LDAP group search and authorization for users logging in with Integrated authentication can be found in KB45729.
