KB484379: The Collaboration Server is unable to connect to the Library Server with error “The Collaboration Server cannot connect to the Collaboration Store” after upgrading to MicroStrategy 2020

This article explains why the Collaboration Server may be unable to connect to the Library Server after upgrading to MicrosStrategy 2020. This article also provides a solution to avoid this error.

Description 


After upgrading to Strategy 2020, the Collaboration Server is unable to connect to the Library Server. The connection error between the Collaboration Server and Library Server can be seen on the Library Admin page as shown below. Additionally, the Collaboration Server is in a paused state.

When clicking on the error icon, the following error is seen:
The Collaboration Server cannot connect to the Collaboration Store. Would you like to set it up?

Steps to reproduce

  1. Upgrade a Strategy 2019 environment to Strategy 2020.
  2. Go to the Library Admin page with the following URL: 
    http://<Library Server>:<port>/MicroStrategyLibrary/admin.
  3. Notice the connection error between the Library Server and Collaboration Server.

Why is this happening?

A potential cause of this issue is that the 

StrategyLibrary.war
file was not redeployed after upgrading to Strategy 2020. As a result, Strategy Library was not upgraded and still on the previous version of Strategy.
To check the Strategy Library version, go the following URL: 
http://<Strategy Library Server>:<port>/MicroStrategyLibrary/app/version
. As seen below, the Strategy Library version is still 11.1 (2019) rather than 11.2 (2020).

Solution


Deploy the 2020 StrategyLibrary.war file to upgrade Strategy Library. The below steps can be used to deploy the 

StrategyLibrary.war
file on a default Strategy Windows installation.

  1. Stop Tomcat.
  2. Navigate to 
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\MicroStrategy\Tomcat\apache-tomcat-9.0.30\webapps.
  3. Delete or create a backup of the StrategyLibrary folder and 
    StrategyLibrary.war
    file.
  4. Copy the StrategyLibrary.war file from 
    C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Library
    to 
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\MicroStrategy\Tomcat\apache-tomcat-9.0.30\webapps.
  5. Start Tomcat.
