This knowledge base article describes an error message seen when generating the SQL for a report that has a date attribute with datatype stored as 'datetime2', when temporary tables are needed within the SQL.

SYMPTOM:
When running a report that  has a date attribute with 'datetime2' datatype and time scale 8, Strategy is not able to generate SQL and the error message below is seen.

CAUSE:
When this error is seen, there is a datatype for the date attribute in the report that is stored as 'datetime2' with a time scale of 8. However, 'datetime2' datatype only supports a precision range of 0-7.  The issue is only encountered when the datatype of the date attribute is 'datetime2', and when temporary tables are needed within the SQL.

ACTION:
If the time scale at the database is above the precision range of 0-7, change the precision at the database to be within the precision range, and update the table structures within the warehouse catalog. Or change the time scale in the attribute column alias to a precision range of 0-7. 39439 KB439439
