Fernando Iwamoto

Senior Cloud Support Engineer III • MicroStrategy

This document shoes an issue where the password of Administrator user is changed when duplicating a project in MicroStrategy Object Manager 10.11. The password is updated by the password from the source Project.

SYMPTOM:
When duplicating project into new environment, it may be desired that users are not included as part of the duplication. Even when choosing to bring over no users into new environment, or change existing user settings, the Administrator password in the destination environment is updated with the Administrator password from the source environment.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
In Strategy 10.11:

1) Set a password for the Administrator user in the Project Source A
2) Set a different password for the Administrator user in the Project Source B
3) Open the Object Manager and duplicate a project from Project Source A to Project Source B.
4) When opening the Project Source B the administrator's password will be the same of Project Source A
* Users were not duplicated
CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Object Manager where the destination project has the password of Administrator user updated by password of Administrator from the source project.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy 11.0, please update to this version to receive this fix.
WORKAROUND:
Change the password of Administrator user manually for the desired password.
