KB442173: "Type mismatch" error is received when opening the Warehouse Catalog in MicroStrategy Developer 10.x

Yefang Zhou

Manager, Cloud Support • MicroStrategy

SYMPTOM:

When trying to open the Warehouse Catalog In Strategy Developer 10.x,  the following error message displays:

Type mismatch

CAUSE:
This error is usually caused by an unexpected object wrongly placed in a specific folder. In this case, Trigger objects are put in DBMS folder, however this folder should only contain DBMS objects.
In another case, there are folder objects wrongly placed in \System Objects\Columns folder, causing the same error, refer to KB35587 for detail information.
ACTION:
DBMS folder is not visible in Strategy Developer, contact Strategy Technical Support for fixing this issue using internal tools.
To track down the cause of the inconsistency, customer should pay attention on related Object manipulations, Object Migrations, and other metadata operations prior to experiencing the problem.
