Take backup of a Platform Analytics warehouse from 2021 U4 windows environment, tried to restore the backup on 2021 U4 linux environment restore using the mstr-repo-ondemand-dba-operations.sh
Restore failed with below error:
Failed to restore platform_analytics_wh, a backup was taken prior to executing the restore. See pre_restore_backup_20220201.sql
The tables are not dropping before issuing drop schema, reason looks like a limitation of how we call restores. We use pg_restore -c -C which is clean and then restore.
Clean only drops objects that were part of the dump so when changing MSTR version with new objects those will not be dropped leaving the dependency.
Manually drop the Schema before restoring the old one and then running restore, then using Configuration Wizard to upgrade the Warehouse.
Manually drop the schema on Strategy 2021 Update 4 and run Manual Restore using pg_restore - This will restore the backup and then upgrade project is using Configuration Wizard.
