Users without Web Edit Dossier privilege still see Edit option when right-clicking a Dossier in Web

This article explains a defect in MicroStrategy

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
Users without Web Edit Dossier privilege still see Edit option when right-clicking a Dossier in Web
As a Strategy Administrator, you might notice when testing that a user who does not have the privilege Web Edit Dossier under the Web Analyst privilege category still sees the Edit option when right-click on a Dossier in Web

This can be explained by the description of the Web Edit Dossier privilege that appears when you select the privilege in the security role editor

As this description explains, this was by design because of what editing a Dossier really means. Technically there isn't an edit option for dossier but rather different run modes (Visual Insight/Presentation/Flash or Express). If you right-click a dossier and select Edit, you will actually open the Dossier in Flash/Express mode. If you select Run, you will open the Dossier in Visual Insight mode. After running the Dossier in Visual Insight mode, if you select the small red icon in the top-right of the screen (as shown below) you will take the Dossier into presentation mode

Even though this is by design, Strategy agreed that this is confusing to end users and has agreed to modify this behavior in a future release. The modification will be to remove the Edit option if the user doesn't have the Web Edit Dossier privilege
