Visualizations That Contain Both a D3WordCloud and an ESRI Map Produce the Error, "Either there is not enough data to display the visualization or the visualization configuration is incomplete"

Shane Winslow

This article describes how to resolve an issue when an error occurs with a visualization that contains both a D3WordCloud and an ESRI map.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

When executing a dossier that contains an ESRI map visualization on the first page of a dossier and a D3WordCloud on the second page, the ESRI map visualization renders as expected.

However, when switching to the second page containing a D3WordCloud visualization, an error appears as shown below. In presentation mode, the visualization appears blank.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a new dossier containing a geo attribute.
  2. On the first page, create an ESRI map visualization.
  3. Insert a new page and create a D3WordCloud visualization.
  4. Navigate to the page containing the ESRI map visualization and save the dossier.
  5. Close the dossier.
  6. Execute the dossier. Notice that the ESRI map renders as expected.
  7. Navigate to the second page containing the D3WordCloud visualization.
  8. The error appears.

Why is This Happening?

This is an identified defect in Strategy 2019.

Solution

Upgrade to Strategy Web 2020 to resolve this issue.

Workaround

Save the dossier on the page containing the D3WordCloud visualization so that this is the first page rendered when executing the dossier.
