KB486012: When adding a metric or attribute to a visualization the cells get resized to large elements rendering the data unreadable

Gustavo Sulbaran

Product Specialist • MicroStrategy

This article indicates that while creating a dossier the user will try to add some metrics and Attributes but during this process the visualization gets reformatted in an unusable way.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Prerequisite

Before starting with this article, it is assumed the user with the issue has:

  1. The following configuration in language preferences (or similar for other languages):

  1. The issue is not reproducible in Library under the same circumstances.
  2. This issue is not reproducible with Sample Data / xls.

Symptom

The user opens a blank dossier and adds data.

The whole padding of that particular visualization automatically gets formatted in a very unusual way.

Action

The technology team is aware of this, and it has been reported this comes due mstrWeb getting an incorrect locale resolution result. Currently the team is working on providing a fix regarding the issue in a future update.

Workaround

For the current times if you are presenting this behavior there are workarounds available:

  1. The user changes his language settings to be as default English (US)

  1. If the user wants to preserve his language, then the change should be like the following:

This is showcasing the fix for Spanish, and the equivalent instructions should be applied for any other language having the issue.
Language: (your language)
Metadata: Default
Data: Default
Number and Date Format: (your language)
Intelligence Server: (your language)
Measurement Units: Default
Time Zone: Default
