When using the "Invite Users" functionality in a Dossier using MicroStrategy Library, the notification e-mail contains an incorrect link to the MicroStrategy Library deployment

Pascal Deguine

Principal Product Specialist • Strategy

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

Strategy Library allows use the "Invite Users" share functionality. This share functionality will send a notification e-mail to the invited user containing a link to the Strategy Library deployment. However, some users are experiencing an issue where the e-mail contains an incorrect link to the shared dossier.
View the image below to view the Share option for "Invite Users":

Note that by Strategy default, the generated link will show localhost as seen below:

Why is this happening?

The cause of this behavior is an incomplete setup of Strategy Library and Strategy Collaboration Server.

Solution

1. Open config.json from [Strategy Installation Directory]\Collaboration Server

  • By default on Microsoft Windows, the location would be C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Collaboration Server

2. Set the authorizationURL to the correct web server hosting Strategy Library:

"authorizationServerUrl": "http://webserver:port/MicroStrategyLibrary/api",

3. Save config.json.
4. Restart the Strategy Collaboration Server service.
5. Ensure that the proper links send with the Share option "Invite Users".
