KB485420: Workaround to avoid PDF result override the Dossier web page when exporting from Firefox Beta (98.x) version.

This article provides solution to problem with exporting PDF using Firefox 98.x.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Beta Firefox (98.x) or Nightly Firefox (99.x).
  2. Run any dossier in Library or Authoring Web on the Firefox.
  3. Export to PDF with default settings.
  4. PDF result will directly open in browser and replace current dossier page.

The issue only happens on specific Firefox version:  Beta Firefox (98.x) or Nightly Firefox (99.x).
This behavior only happens with the default Firefox setting of PDF: Open in Nightly.

Cause

This behavior is caused by one behavior change in Firefox: on 97 version, even though the setting of PDF is "Open in Firefox", the PDF exported will still be downloaded directly. However, in Beta version (98.x), the PDF will directly open in browser, and override the previous dossier web page.

Action

This behavior happens with default Firefox setting of PDF - Open in Nightly. If change setting to "Save File", this issue doesn't happen.
To modify the PDF setting of Firefox, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Firefox settings.
  2. Search "PDF" or "download", in Applications table, find the Portable Document Format (PDF) item.
  3. For action part, choose “Save file“.
