KB485863: ‘You do not have Use Freeform SQL Editor privilege(s) to perform the task’ error is shown when trying to adjust the ACL for a FFSQL report.

Stefano Antonellis

Principal Product Specialist • Strategy

This article describes an ‘You do not have Use Freeform SQL Editor privilege(s) to perform the task’ error.

Symptom

In Strategy 2021 Update 7 and later, Strategy users cannot adjust the ACL for FFSQL reports, although they have the Full Control privilege over the same objects.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Log in to Workstation with a Strategy user, for which has not been granted the privilege ‘Use Freeform SQL Editor’.
  2. Navigate to the folder where has been stored one FFSQL report, for which the same user has Full Control ACL.
  3. RMC on the report from Step 2 > Properties > Security Access > try to adjust the ACL defined for it and click on Save button; the error message below is shown:

The issue is still being reviewed for feasibility by our Technology team for an upcoming scheduled Strategy release.
