How to customize beans in SpringSAMLConfig.xml for Strategy Web and Mobile server

KB486032: Set Mobile Configurations When Using Basic Auth for Admin Rather than SAML introduced a workflow to customize taskRequestMatcher for mobile configuration via SpringSAMLConfig.xml modification.

However, SpringSAMLConfig.xml is used by internal codes and will be updated from time to time. Persisting an old customized version on upgrade will cause system error. In fact, we have a standard way to customize beans in SpringSAMLConfig.xml.

Step 1 identify the bean you want to customize:

For example, you want to add “getProjects” to the taskRequestMatcher bean. In WEB-INF/classes/resources/SAML/SpringSAMLConfig.xml, copy the original bean content:

SpringSAMLConfig.png

Step 2 add the bean to custom/SAMLConfig.xml

Beans added to WEB-INF/classes/resources/SAML/custom/SAMLConfig.xml will override ones in SpringSAMLConfig.xml. By default it is an empty <beans> tag:

Add the beans copied from SpringSAMLConfig.xml and make your customization.

The below example added “getProjects” to taskRequestMatcher:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
  xmlns:security="http://www.springframework.org/schema/security"
  xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
  xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context"
  xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.1.xsd
  http://www.springframework.org/schema/security http://www.springframework.org/schema/security/spring-security.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context-3.1.xsd">
<!-- Beans to customize the SAML login -->
<bean id="tasksRequestMatcher" class="com.microstrategy.auth.TaskRequestMatcher">
  <constructor-arg>
    <list>
      <value>arch.search</value>
      <value>arch.saveDBRole</value>
      <value>isSessionAlive</value>
      <value>closeSessions</value>
      <value>getPluginsVisList</value>
      <value>getProjects</value> <!-- NEW -->
    </list>
  </constructor-arg>
</bean>
</beans>

Note that custom/SAMLConfig.xml is persisted by default.

To prevent outdated SpringSAMLConfig.xml causing server error, delete the PV persisted SpringSAMLConfig.xml.

Restart the server to take effect.
