During installation of MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Universal 9.x. or during installation of other server components (such as MicroStrategy Web Universal) on AIX, the installation hangs on the screen where the user selects to receive an activation code or not. After selecting an option (Yes or No), clicking on the 'Next' button does not have an affect.

The same issue is seen when the installation is attempted from command line.

CAUSE

This issue can be seen in cases when the installer is not able to determine if there is enough space available for the installation. It is possible that there is a faulty mount point on the file system which is causing this or there are other problems on the file system.

ACTION

If users are able to identify any faulty mount points, fix the mounts.

If user are not able to identify the faulty mount points, provide a java core dump of the process and contact MicroStrategy Technical Support with this dump. A java core dump can be force created using the following command:

Sample Code/Errorkill -QUIT <PID>

PID is the process ID of the java process that runs the installer.
