KB489714: Agents created from Mosaic Models return “ERROR: error 401: b’Malformed credentials"

In Strategy One (December 2025), Agents created from Mosaic Models only work with the MicroStrategyLibrary application. When used with a Library that has a different application name, the Agent fails with a credentials error: “ERROR: error 401: b’Malformed credentials”.

Symptom

In Strategy One (December 2025), if the Library application name is not MicroStrategyLibrary (for example, MicroStrategyLibrarySTD), Agents created from Mosaic Models return:

In the Chat Service log, the error message “ERROR: error 401: b’Malformed credentials’” appears:

Cause

This is a known limitation in Strategy One (December 2025). Agents created from Mosaic Models are only supported with the default MicroStrategyLibrary application.

Solution

This has been fixed in Strategy One (March 2026).

Workaround

Users can use one of the following:

Use Mosaic Model based Agents in the MicroStrategyLibrary application.
Update the Library URL in universal-semantic.sh.
If it’s required to use the feature in a different library application for example MicroStrtegyLibrarySTD:

Edit /opt/mstr/MicroStrategy/install/UniversalSemantic/bin/ universal-semantic.sh
Update the value of "MSTR_LIBRARY_URL" to the target Library URL, for example:

export MSTR_LIBRARY_URL=http://localhost:8080/MicroStrategyLibrarySTD

Restart Mosaic Universal Access after saving the change.
