KB439812: Low resolution on visualizations when using different operating systems

Community Admin

• Strategy

This Knowledge Base article describes how some user on Mac books without retina display and windows may experience lower resolutions levels for visualizations.

SYMPTOM
Some users on using when accessing documents via web, may experience low resolution in the graphic elements. However, this low resolution does not affect other not graphic objects such as grids. This issue may cause the different parts of the document to be visualized with different resolutions.
This issue is only visible (or at least is more clear) when using the retina display of our mackbook pro (1680x1050 or 1440x900). We tried with a windows laptop and the effect is less visible.
Below is a screenshot from a macbook with retnia display

CAUSE
The Graph Matrix is rendered with Scalable Vector Graph technology rather than rasterized image in the former graph engine. Vector graph scales very well on high resolution devices and will not have the “low resolution” issue reported.
ACTION
This issue was reviewed by our Technology team for feasibility and will not be scoped for a code fix in any upcoming Strategy release.
WORKAROUND
Create a Visual Insight dashboard, build the desired graphs and then convert it to an RSD document.
In a existing RSD document, change the widget type to "Graph Matrix" .
