Mosaic Time-Interval Attributes in Dashboards

Mosaic Time-Interval Attributes in Dashboards Not Following User Language Format After Upgrade to Strategy One May 2026

Symptom

After upgrading to Strategy One (May 2026), the time interval attribute format in dashboards may behave differently depending on when the Mosaic model was created:

  • Mosaic models created in earlier releases (Strategy One Jan 2026–Apr 2026)

For these models, the time interval attribute format is fixed at the moment the object is created, based on the creator’s language and format settings at that time.

After upgrading to May 2026, changing the viewer’s language settings will not change how the time interval attribute is formatted in the dashboard.

  • Mosaic models created in Strategy One (May 2026) and later

For these models, the time interval attribute format in dashboards is dynamic and follows each viewer’s default language settings.

Different users can see the same time interval attribute formatted differently, according to their own language preferences.

For example:

The model creator’s language is English, and the time format follows the default English settings.

  • The viewer’s language is Chinese, and the time format follows the default Chinese settings.

2.webp
  • When a Chinese user logs in and views the dashboard, those time attributes are displayed using the Chinese default format.

Cause

In Strategy One Jan 2026, to support time interval attribute formatting in dashboards, we implemented logic that locks the number/time format at the time the object is created.

In Strategy One May 2026, we introduced an improved mechanism for handling time interval attribute formatting so that formats can adapt to the viewer’s language.

However, objects created in earlier versions (Strategy One Jan 2026 ~ Strategy One April 2026) do not benefit from this enhancement because their formats were already fixed at creation time.

Solution

To enable the new dynamic formatting behavior for time interval attributes created in earlier versions, you only need to perform a minor update on each affected time attribute:

  1. Open the time interval attribute in Mosaic.
  2. Make a small change (for example, slightly rename the time interval attribute).
  3. Save the time interval attribute.
  4. For in-memory models, publish the model again.
4.webp

After these steps, check the dashboard:

The time interval attribute format should now follow each viewer’s default language settings.
