KB485978: Dossier Graph Chart quick sort could not apply to both Metrics in Metric Selector

Yuxin(Yucy) Peng

Senior Cloud Support Engineer I • MicroStrategy

This article explains a limitation about quick sort doesn't take effect in the graph chart when there has a Metric Selector.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Symptom

In the Dossier, if one Graph Chart (e.g., Bar Chart) targeted by a Metric Selector, user can only apply sort descending/ascending for one metric, but cannot apply it to both metrics.
For example, when you choose “Sort Ascending” on Cost, the bar chart will sort ascending. But when you change Metric Selector to the Profit, the sort order will back to the default. If you choose “Sort Ascending” on Profit, when you go back to Cost, the sort will back to the default rather than sort ascending. Thus, “sort descending/ascending” could not apply to both metrics at the same time.
Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a dossier with a Metric Selector, target to a bar chart.
  2. Choose Cost, and sort bar chart ascending.

Cause

This is a limitation for Graph Chart in the Dossier. For now, only Grid could achieve this requirement (by using Advanced Sort feature).
