KB442289: New SQL pattern for Impala and Hive sources for "insert into values()"

Community Admin

• Strategy

SYMPTOM:
Before 10.9 release, for following data sources, when data needs to be inserted into an intermediate table using "insert into values()" syntax, report would fail with an error from data source about syntax.
Impala 1.x
Impala 2.x
Hive 0.13.x
Hive 0.14.x
Hive 1.1.x
CAUSE:
This is a known defect before 10.9 release because these sources require special syntax and SQL must be in the form of "insert into table values ()".
ACTION/RESOLUTION:
This is addressed in 10.9 release and now the report would not fail due to syntax error for these sources as they will produce desired syntax i.e. "insert into table values ()". Metadata must be updated to 10.9 release or later to pick up the new SQL pattern.
Strategy reference numbers for this technical note are KB442289 and US88224.
