KB45703: Derived RScript metrics display null value in MicroStrategy Developer in a client machine without R

Derived RScript metrics display null value in MicroStrategy Developer in a client machine without R

SYMPTOM:

Using Strategy deployR utility, the Metric Expression can be used as either stand-alone metric or derived metric.
When running a derived Rscript metric in a client machine's Strategy Desktop where R Integration package is not installed, the metric return Null value.

CAUSE:

This is expected behavior when using derived metrics. When derived metrics defined using RScript function is executed, it looks for the R script in the location specified in metric definiation in the client machine instead of Intelligence Server machine. The execution cannot be complete unless the script is also available on the client, along with R and R Integration Pack installations.

ACTION:

Two solutions would be:
1. Install R Integration Package and place RScripts in client machine or a machine that all client machines have access to;
2. Use stand-alone metrics instead of derived metrics.
