KB485033: Deploy OneDrive and Box as Community Connectors

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article provides steps for replacing the OneDrive and Box connectors from Cloud Elements to Community Connectors.

Description

After June 30th, 2021, the extended support for the OneDrive and Box connectors will end and customers using Strategy 2019 and 2020 will not be able to connect to OneDrive and Box. To ensure that customers on Strategy 2020 can access OneDrive and Box uninterrupted, the connectors can be configured in the

CommunityConnector.war
file.
If you are on Strategy 2021, you will need to upgrade to Strategy 2021 Update 1 to get the upgraded OneDrive and Box connectors.
If you are still on Strategy 2019, the best approach for now is to upgrade to Strategy 2020 and follow the instructions below.
To deliver the full out-of-the-box experience, the OneDrive and Box connectors will be seamlessly integrated in the a future release. To avoid any outage of the two connectors, you are strongly encouraged to upgrade them following the instructions below.

Prerequisites

  • If the buttons for OneDrive and Box are disabled, make sure the Enable URL file upload checkbox is selected in Strategy Developer.

  • Previously, OneDrive and Box worked with web clients using HTTP. However, after upgrading them to Community Connectors, only web connections with SSL are supported due to security reasons. To enable the web server's HTTPS setting, please refer to Configure Web, Mobile Server, and Web Services to Require SSL Access.

Configuration Steps

  • Update
    CommunityConnector.war
in your web application path. For example, on Linux:
    /opt/apache/tomcat/apache-tomcat-9.0.30/webapps

For the Strategy 2019 war file, click here.
For the Strategy 2020 Update 5 war file, click here.
  • Restart the web application, such as Tomcat.

  • Refer to KB48420 to add your web server host to
    security.request.ipWhitelist
    in
    CommunityConnectors\WEB-INF\classes\security.properties.
     Then, restart Tomcat.
  • Set up an application for the OneDrive or Box connector.
  • Go to Project Defaults > General and set the Community Connector Server setting in the Link to Community Connectors field.

  • Now you can republish a OneDrive or Box cube. Note the following:
    • If you want to republish a cube, you must update the dataset and refresh each table for your cube saved in an earlier build. Otherwise, you may hit the error, "The table or cube is not compatible with the Community Connector, please edit and update."

    • When editing the table without a valid token, you must re-login. When editing the table for the first time, you may notice missing file information, as well as a greyed out Submit button. Click Cancel and edit the table again. The file information and Submit button should appear as expected.
