KB482953: How to Troubleshoot Export Engine Issues in Workstation

Donna Cothran

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

How to Troubleshoot Export Engine Issues in Workstation

When troubleshooting issues related to the Workstation export engine, determining the source of the problem is a key step that can help narrow down the root cause and potentially resolve the problem. The first question to ask is, "Does the issue occur in a live dossier (on the server), local dossier, or both?

  1. If the export fails in a live dossier, it's caused by the I-Server export engine. The same approach in troubleshooting the export issue in Web can be applied here. See Common Troubleshooting Questions for the Export Engine for more information.
  2. If the export fails in a local dossier, it's caused by the local (internal) export engine.
  3. Test if the export fails or works in different languages.
  4. If the environment is clustered, check to see if the export services are running on all nodes.

The Workstation engine log files are located at:

  • Windows: DSSErrors.log in the root folder of the installation path. By default C:\Program Files\Strategy\WorkStation\DSSErrors.log
  • Mac OS: /Users/[username]/Library/Containers/com.Strategy.Workstation.DossierEditor/Data/DSSErrors.log

See Configuring the Export Engine for more information.
