Often times, for effective troubleshooting, Strategy Technical Support requires a copy of users' metadata tables, statistics tables or specific warehouse tables. This document provides recommendations when it is required to obtain these tables directly as Teradata tables.
There is a Teradata utility called Arcmain, which can be used to export tables and views. It is recommended to obtain these tables as an Arcmain dump. This utility can be used to dump only one table, or all tables/views of a user.
When providing the Arcmain dump, also provide the script used to create the dump.
Also, obtain information regarding the encoding (codepage) on the Teradata database. It is best to obtain this information from the Database Administrator (DBA). Alternatively, the procedure outlined in the following Knowledge Base technical note may be used to determine the codepage on the Teradata database:
KB16101 - How to determine the character set or code page of an Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata or a DB2 database
NOTE:
If File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is used in the process of transferring/uploading the Arcmain dump, binary mode should be used.
Third Party Software Installation WARNING:
The third-party product(s) discussed in this technical note is manufactured by vendors independent of Strategy. Strategy makes no warranty, express, implied or otherwise, regarding this product, including its performance or reliability.
