Cannot insert duplicate key in object `IS_REP_FACT'” error message appears when performing a data load in MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager.

SYMPTOM
When performing a manual data load in Strategy Enterprise Manager the following error is returned in the MSTRMigration.log:

Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint `IS_REP_F_PK`. Cannot insert duplicate key in object `IS_REP_FACT`.

CAUSE
A possible reason for this error to occur is when there is inconsistent data in the IS_REP_FACT table in the Strategy Enterprise Manager data warehouse.

ACTION
Users can run a custom window data load to address this issue. Detailed steps to implement have been provided below.

  • Update the EM_IS_LAST_UPDATE table as per the recommendations outlined in the following tech note:
KB8192 :  'More than one failed migration windows were found. This process cannot continue' error message appears when performing a dataload in Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x
  • In the Strategy Enterprise Manager Console select Tools then Data Load Options as shown in the image below:

  • Specify the date for the last successful data load in the Start Date field under Specify a custom time window as shown in the image below:

  • Specify today's day for the End Date field as shown in the image below:

  • Click Custom time window as shown in the image below:

NOTE 1: This option is only viable as long as the statistics tables have not been purged in Strategy Desktop under the Project Configuration for the time period specified for the custom time window data load.
