KB14815: What are the different settings governing server-side object cache usage in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server

Community Admin

• Strategy

The following knowledge base article describes the different governing settings for Object Cache..

There are two types of settings that govern the server-side object cache usage in Strategy Intelligence Server 9.x and newer:

  • The setting that governs the server-side object cache for schema and application objects.
This setting is exposed in Strategy Developer, under Project Configuration > Caching > Auxiliary Caches > Objects > Maximum RAM Usage (MBytes), as shown below:

  • The setting that governs the server-side object cache for configuration objects (users, schedules, schedule requests, etc.)
This is a server-level setting as it applies to configuration objects. By default, 2048 configuration objects are held in cache. This setting is not exposed in Strategy Developer. However, the option to purge this type of object cache exposed in the Developer GUI, as outlined in the Knowledge Base article below:
KB14828: What functionality does the ‘Purge Server Object Caches’ setting achieve in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server 10.x
Contact Strategy Technical Support if there is a need to increase the size of configuration objects that are held in cache.
