SQL HINTS
SQL Hints are compiler directives that change the execution plan for SQL statements. In most cases, Query Optimizer will correctly evaluate a query and run it as optimally as possible. But on occasion, the Query Optimizer will fail, producing a less than optimal execution plan, and query performance will suffer because of it. In such situations, a SQL hint can help.
Strategy 9.x currently does not offer the ability to issue SQL Server 2005 SQL hints at the project or the report level.
Unlike Oracle, in SQL Server 2005, the SQL hint string is placed after the FROM table statement.
In Oracle, this hint is placed after the SELECT statement. Support for Oracle SQL hints is provided for reports in Strategy 7.x and newer, as described in the folloing Strategy Knowledge Base technical note:
KB2998: Does MicroStrategy 9.x and later offer the ability to manually insert Oracle SQL hints into the report?
