KB15724: How to print a list of users and groups in MicroStrategy Developer using Project Documentation

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This article discusses a use case for Project Documentation to output a list of users

The Project Documentation Wizard allows users to create a detailed documentation for any object present in a project source. It then can be used as a fast way for printing the list of users of a single project or for the whole project source. Follow the steps below to use project documentation to create a printable list of users in Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x:

  • In Strategy Developer, click on Tools > Project Documentation to open the wizard and click on Next, as shown below:

  • Select the project containing the users to be printed in a list and click Next, as shown below:

  •
At this step, users will see only projects registered and loaded in the project source. Some projects may have been registered but not loaded. In this case, users won’t see their respective projects in this list.  If users wish to perform this for all projects, ensure all projects are loaded in the Intelligence Server.

  • Select the category of objects, as shown below. In this case, users need to choose configuration objects because users are part of this type of objects in the Strategy architecture.

  • Select Basic Properties and Definition, as shown below:

  •
Users can select among different options to display in Basic Properties and Definition both for users and groups. All options will be visible when users click on a user or group. Once the documentation has been created, users can choose among the following Basic Properties and Definitions:

    Basic Properties:

    Definition:
