KB19823: How to troubleshoot problems with MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager configuration

INTRODUCTION
The Strategy Enterprise Manager Console allows users to select the projects sources and projects to monitor in Strategy 9.x. The information for the connectivity to the Enterprise Manager warehouse (DSN) is also defined in this wizard.  NOTE: In Strategy 10.x the Enterprise Manager console no longer exists, and the Enterprise Manager configuration is handled through Command Manager.
 
To avoid any problems, users must ensure the following is verified:
 

• DSNs should match.
   
  The DSN used for the Statistics database instance for the project being monitored by Strategy Enterprise Manager should be same as the DSN specified in the Strategy Enterprise Manager console as well as the DSN that was selected during the Enterprise Manager initial project transfer (during the warehouse transfer portion).
  
  Note: If the Strategy Intelligence Server and Strategy Enterprise Manager Console are on different machines, it is not necessary to have the same DSN name. The core requirement is that the DSN should point to the same Strategy Enterprise Manager database (containing Statistics tables and Enterprise Manager Warehouse tables)
   
  

• Correct project sources and projects are registered
   
  EM_PROPS table specifies the Project Source, the username, password, the name and IDs of the projects that are logging statistics.If the name of a project is not displayed in this table it is because it was registered incorrectly or not at all. In this case, no project information for this project will be loaded to the fact and lookup tables during the data load process even if the project is logging statistics.
   
  Note: Make sure the Project GUID listed here is the same one that is being monitored by EM.

• The correct version of Enterprise Manager warehouse is registered
   
  

•  
  When the Strategy Enterprise Manager console is launched, a check is performed to determine whether the product installation is the same version (or higher) as the Strategy Enterprise Manager warehouse. If Strategy Enterprise Manager warehouse version < Enterprise Manager console version following message will show up:
   
  

• If Strategy Enterprise Manager warehouse version > Enterprise Manager console version, then data load will fail
   
  
• Login information is correct
   
  The login and password to connect to each of the Project Sources (to be specified during the project configuration section as seen in the image below) must have administrator privileges otherwise the connection to the project source during the data loading process will not be successful or may result in incomplete data populated in the fact and lookup tables.
   
  

• The authentication mode for the project source is Standard Authentication
   
  Only Standard Authentication mode is supported by the Strategy Enterprise Manager console.
