SUMMARY
This document describes an issue that occurs when trying to establish a connection to an Amazon Redshift database when the Intelligence Server is on Linux in Strategy 9.4.1.
SYMPTOM
While attempting to establish a database connection to Amazon Redshift from a Linux Intelligence Server machine in Strategy 9.4.1 the following error is seen.
Connect failed.
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLDriverConnect. [S1000:1209: on HDBC] [Strategy][ODBC PostgreSQL Wire Protocol driver]The Connect Series for ODBC PostgreSQL Wire Protocol driver is only licensed to connect to PostgreSQL databases. You are attempting to connect to the following type of server: PostgreSQL 8.0.2 on i686
The error occurs despite the fact that the supported driver (Strategy ODBC Driver for PostgreSQL Wire Protocol) is used to connect to Amazon Redshift.
CAUSEThis is a known issue in Strategy 9.4.1.
ACTIONStrategy ODBC Driver for Amazon Redshift Wire Protocol should be used to establish connection to Amazon Redshift. This new driver from Strategy is now available to connect to Amazon Redshift. Refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base document for additional information:
