SUMMARY:
This technical note provides steps to modify the Project Configuration settings through a Strategy Sample Procedure in Command Manager 9.x and above.
SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Command Manager, users can export the current Project Configuration settings as a backup file to text or Excel (for Windows only) using the following script:
LIST [ALL] PROPERTIES FOR PROJECT CONFIGURATION IN PROJECT "<project_name>";
Note: Refer to technical note
KB47584 for more information on exporting the Project Configuration settings.
However, users will notice the Project Configuration settings are exported in a manner that cannot be directly imported back into Command Manager even though there is a script to alter the current project configuration settings, as listed below:
ALTER PROJECT CONFIGURATION IN PROJECT "<project name>";
With the ALTER script having numerous configurable parameters, it is very tedious to fill out in its entirety.
CAUSE:This is working as designed. The script to export the current Project Configuration settings exists as a means to create a backup file with a list of the current settings, it is not meant to be imported back into a project.
ACTION:There is a Strategy Sample Procedure in Command Manager that will create the script ALTER PROJECT CONFIGURATION IN PROJECT "<project name>"; with the current Project Configuration settings.
Note: Some Project Configuration settings are not applied (these are governing settings stored in the server definition). There are separate Command Manager scripts to alter the server definition settings if needed.
To use the Custom Procedure:
- In Command Manager, select Outlines > Procedure Outlines > Sample Procedures
- Select 'Save_Reuse_Project_Configuration'
