SYMPTOM:
When checking SQL view for a report or when executing it in either 2-tier or 3-tier mode from Strategy Developer, the following error occurs:

Sample Code/Error
Status: Execution failed
Error: Unable to Start Execution
Out of stack space
This behavior is only seen with specific reports. No errors are reported when updating schema or editing schema objects such as attributes.
CAUSE:
One possible cause is that one or more metrics are using a Strategy function within their definition which does not have an equivalent SQL pattern defined for the warehouse database type. In the above example, the Strategy function Week() was being used which does not have any SQL pattern defined:

A SQL pattern for a Strategy function defines which database-side function should be used when generating the SQL. In the absence of such a pattern, SQL for such a metric cannot be generated, which leads to this issue.
ACTION:
Instead of using the Strategy Week() function, database-based functions can be directly used through an ApplySimple() statement. For more details on how to use ApplySimple() statements, refer to the following Strategy Knowledge Base technical note:
