Introduction
As per a recent announcement from Amazon posted here, Amazon is transitioning to ACM Certificates for SSL Connections. This Knowledge Base article provides users with instructions on how to update existing ODBC connections to Amazon Redshift to apply this change.
The following Strategy Knowledge Base article which provides instructions on how to create a new ODBC connection to Amazon Redshift is still valid, and it is not necessary for users to make any other changes:
How to connect to Amazon Redshift
How to update existing DSNs

  • An existing DSN to Amazon Redshift on Windows or Linux Operating Systems would have entries similar to below: Set Trust Store= <certificate location> \<certificate filename>
ka04W00000148UGQAY_0EM44000000Q1MW.jpeg
  • Create a backup of the original certificate.
  • Download the new CA certificate from the link here. (though this is the same link as what is in the KB article,  the content of that link has been updated by Amazon)
  • Make sure that the certificate downloaded in Step 3 is placed in the same location where the original certificate was.
  • Save the ODBC connection information on Windows ODBC administrator or save the odbc.ini file on Linux and test the connectivity to verify that the connection is successful
