Passing all selector values across Report Services Documents using Edit Links

Benjamin Reyes

Vice President, Product Management • MicroStrategy

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

With Strategy Web 9.3.1, there is a new option to pass all selector values using Edit Links across Report Services Documents.
The following instructions explain how to use this new function:

  1. Access the Edit Links menu on the desired object in the source Document.

Feel free to refer to this knowledge base article on how to use Edit Links.

  1. In the menu shown below select Run this Report or Document.
  2. Notice the new option: Pass all selector values.

This option lets users pass selector values from a source Report Services Document to a target RS Document.
Note that there are two modes in this new feature:

  1. Match selectors by source attribute: This option maps each selector between the source and target document using the attribute that serves as the source for the selectors.
  2. Match selectors by control name: This option maps each selector by the name defined for it under the Document Structure.

Having different number of selectors in the source and in the target is possible. The non-matching selectors will be set to All.
