IE behavior to export report to Excel changes starting from MicroStrategy Web 10.4.4 and 10.7.

SYMPTOM
IE behavior to export report to Excel changes starting from Strategy Web 10.4.4 and 10.7.
In older versions, when trying to export report to Excel file from IE browser, a pop-up window is displayed as below:

ka04W000001Iv73QAC_0EM44000000R9dW.png

In newer versions, the menu bar as below is displayed at the bottom of IE:

ACTION
This is per design due to the change to “force-download” parameter as stated in KB19099.
Below parameter is added to exportFormats.xml from Strategy 10.4.4 and 10.7 for exporting to Excel.

force-download="true"

This would only have influence on IE browser, as Chrome or Firefox always behave like force-download is "true".
This would also cause some change on the method used in HTTP request also.
For older versions, below requests may be found from the HTTP requests from the client to web server.

HEAD /MicroStrategy/export/20170704162024251?n=/reportname.null HTTP/1.1
OPTIONS /MicroStrategy/export/20170704162024251?n= HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND /MicroStrategy/export/20170704162024251?n= HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND /MicroStrategy/export HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND /MicroStrategy/export HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND /Strategy HTTP/1.1
HEAD /MicroStrategy/export/20170704162024251?n=/XXXXXXXXXX.null HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND / HTTP/1.1
PROPFIND / HTTP/1.1

In newer versions, below request is used instead:

POST /MicroStrategy/export/ reportname.null HTTP/1.1
