KB44362: Express Mode becomes non-interactive when using URL API to set a default selection for a grid selector in MicroStrategy Web

• Strategy

In MicroStrategy Web, users can follow tech note KB43469 to construct a URL using the URL API to execute a document with a default grid selection enabled. However, users may notice that if the default run mode of the document is set to Express mode or if the currentViewMedia=1 parameter is appended to the URL to execute the document in Express mode, the document will render but become non-interactive. For example, users can click anywhere in the document but will not be able to interact with any objects, such as scrolling or toggling any selections.

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy Web 9.x, users can follow tech note KB43469  to construct a URL using the URL API to execute a document with a default grid selection enabled.

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.x.

ACTION:

Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on this issue.

WORKAROUND:

Set the document default execution mode to something other than Express mode, or use a different value for the currentViewMedia parameter, such as 2 for interactive mode.
Or, if users must use Express mode, after the document initially executes into Express mode, users can toggle into a different mode, then switch back to Express mode, and functionality will be restored.
