SYMPTOM:

The following error appears when using an attribute element selector in Express mode. The selector is using an attribute with a date data type in SQL Server 2012.

"System Error 0x80004005 (2147500037): - Unspecified error"

CAUSE:

This is caused by using the old Microsoft ODBC driver which does not support the newly introduced data types that come with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 such as date. KB40734: Support of TIME, DATE, and DATETIME2 data types for SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 explains more about what must be done to support and properly interact with these data types in Strategy.

ACTION:

  1. Install the Microsoft SQL Server Native Client ODBC driver.
  2. Re-create the warehouse's DSN with this ODBC driver.
  3. Open Developer and modify the Database Instance type into 'SQL Server Native Client Driver'.
  4. Remove the dataset caches in System Monitors.
  5. Restart Intelligence Server.
