SYMPTOM:
When accessing a database based history list message, "MsiInBox: The persist message result, either a report result in report cache or a document result file, is not found. It may have been manually deleted by system administrator." Occurs and below entries can be found in DSSErrors.log:

XMLRebuildDocument: PreRebuildDocument failed with error -2147468840, return original Message ID 55A8F88C11E416DA7CF80080EF151A32 MsiWorkingSet::GetDocMsgRslt(): GetDocRslt() returns error 0x800039D8 when retrieving static message result
This would create a static History List message with HTML result, but default run mode is PDF. Static History List message doesn’t save the document instance in DSSCSCONTENT table. Static History List message can only retrieve result as its default run mode, and if there result is not there, it will fail.

Important to consider:
KB36975 -- In Strategy Desktop 9.x 'Pre-generate export' options are different when sending a document to history list and editing the Subscription in Subscription Manager.
ACTION:
If "Run by default as" on the Document Properties is set to "Export to PDF," please modify the problematic subscriptions to this particular document from the value "HTML" in "Pre-generate export" to "PDF."
