How to provide MicroStrategy Technical Support with DB2 UDB for Windows and Unix databases for troubleshooting.

Often times, for effective troubleshooting, Strategy Technical Support requires a copy of the users' metadata tables, statistics tables or specific warehouse tables. This document provides recommendations for providing these for DB2 UDB for Windows and Unix.

It is recommended to provide the above by using DB2 export to create IXF files (.ixf format). Also provide the scripts used to create the .ixf files.

When providing warehouse tables, also provide the data definition language (DDL) script for the objects such as tables and triggers.

Also, obtain information regarding the encoding (codepage) on the DB2 database. It is best to obtain this information from the Database Administrator (DBA). Alternatively, the procedure outlined in the following Knowledge Base technical note may be used to determine the codepage on the DB2 database:
KB16101: How to determine the character set or code page of an Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata or a DB2 database

NOTE1:
If File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is used in the process of moving the .ixf files, binary mode should be used.

If the zipped files are large, upload the information onto the Strategy download site. Contact Strategy Technical Support for any questions on uploading the information to the Strategy Download Site.
NOTE2:
Make sure that the exported .ixf file names match with the corresponding table names, so that the tables are restored with proper table names.

WARNING:
The third-party product(s) discussed in this technical note is manufactured by vendors independent of Strategy. Strategy makes no warranty, express, implied or otherwise, regarding this product, including its performance or reliability.
