Known HyperIntelligence Limitations and Challenges in MicroStrategy 2021

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article explains the known limitations in MicroStrategy HyperIntelligence version 2021.

Cube Limitations

  • Live-connect is not supported, so datasets for HyperIntelligence must be in-memory cubes. For example, you can create a card based on an Intelligent, in-memory MTDI, or an in-memory MDX/SAP cube. However, you cannot create a card based on a live-connect MDX/SAP cube.

  • To effectively create a HyperIntelligence dataset, your data must have attributes with either one-to-one relationships or many-to-one relationships. Datasets with one-to-many relationships are not supported and using them to create a card will result in inaccurate data.

For more information on the prerequisites for using HyperIntelligence, click here.

Authoring Limitations

  • You cannot create a card if you are connected to metadata older than 2019. To create a card, ensure we are connected to an upgraded version of the metadata or upgrade your metadata to 2019 or above. For steps, see the Upgrade Guide.

  • You cannot create or edit a card based on an unpublished cube. To publish your cube, see the In-Memory Analytics Help.

HyperWeb

HyperWeb was first introduced in Strategy 2019. This product provides zero-click intelligence by displaying cards in your web browser that provide contextual information to business users.

Known Website Issues:

The following websites have known issues and HyperWeb may not work as expected:

  • Yahoo Finance
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides
  • Microsoft Word Online
  • Microsoft Excel Online
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Online
  • PDF Online

HyperWeb cannot highlight words on top of the following HTML elements:

  • Canvas
  • SVG
  • Input (Text type)
  • Editable Fields (While typing)

Keyword Matching and Data-Size Limitations:

  • A keyword must be a minimum length of three characters. In Asian languages, the minimum length is one character.

  • HyperWeb can accommodate up to a total of 500,000 keywords including synonyms at a time. As such, you can only enable a certain amount of cards to avoid exceeding this limit. Whereas, Pattern enabled card-sets do not have a limitation of 500K keywords on HyperWeb, since pattern matching accommodates use cases with larger datasets  by setting character patterns on keywords.  Pattern matching avoids downloading the keywords in the browser storage for better and faster performance. Learn more about pattern matching and the default keyword matching here .

  • HyperWeb and HyperOffice does not support search on keywords in a pattern-enabled card-set. Search is enabled only for the card sets that have default keyword matching enabled.

Authentication Limitations:

For a list of supported authentications, click here.
For SAML authentication, you must enable CORS settings through the Library server admin page.

HyperOffice

In Strategy 2020 Update 1 or later - HyperIntelligence for Office will only work on the latest Safari browser when viewing Outlook Online on Mac Catalina to resolve complications with Chrome 80 SameSite cookie changes.  Apple did not release the SameSite cookie changes update for Safari on an older version of macOS which is why you must use Mac Catalina.

HyperMobile

On Android

  • Trusted authentication is not supported. For a list of all supported authentications, click here.

  • Calendar events must be synced with the system calendar to be seen in the HyperMobile app. This can be accomplished by syncing calendar events with most calendar apps.

On iOS

  • Trusted authentication is not supported. For a list of all supported authentications, click here.

  • Calendar events must be synced with the iOS native calendar to be seen in the Hyper app.

The limitations mentioned above are currently being investigated by the Technology team. Strategy consistently pushes updates to the relevant app stores when any issues are resolved. Strategy is constantly iterating, importing, and creating new features to ensure our customers are having the best experience.
