This article explains how to expose and change the Quoting Behaviour VLDB settings in MicroStrategy 2020.

Description

Based on KB483540 in Strategy 2020, there is a new feature, Unified Quoting. Some customer wish to disable this feature on project level. To achieve this, the following VLDB setting "Quoting Behavior" must be exposed so that users can make the changes.

  1. The user should locate the
    VLDB.xml
    file in the "
    Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Strategy
    " folder on a machine with Strategy Developer installed and create a backup of this file, and then edit it.
  2. The user should locate the last
    <Setting>
     XML entry in the file similar to the following entry,
    <Setting>
    , and insert the following:

    <Setting>
    <Name>Quoting Behavior</Name>
    <MaxValues>2</MaxValues>
    <GroupID>9</GroupID>
    <Type>4</Type>
    <DataSourceType>1</DataSourceType>
    <ReportType>5</ReportType>
    <DisplayName>Quoting Behavior</DisplayName>
    <DisplayLevel>1</DisplayLevel>
    <ShowSQLPreview>0</ShowSQLPreview>
    <SQLPreview1/>
    <ValueOption1>16140</ValueOption1>
    <SQLPreview2/>
    <ValueOption2>16141</ValueOption2>
    </Setting>

  3. Once the changes are made, the
    VLDB.xml
    file should be saved and closed.
  4. The user can now re-run Developer, re-connect to the metadata, and in the project level VLDB settings, see the Quoting Behavior VLDB setting.
  5. Uncheck the Use Default and set the Quoting Behavior to False. Save and Close.
