SUMMARY:
This issue has been classified as working as designed by Strategy. The impact is limited to Strategy Desktop 9.x only when performing a component search of a view report. A solution/code fix for this issue is available within this document.
SYMPTOM:
When performing a component search of a report based on a cube, the search doesn't return all objects that are available in the report in Strategy Desktop 9.x. Objects that reside in the “Report objects window” but not on the template appear to be missing from the results.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

VIDEO:
For a video on steps to reproduce, please see the following video: <Video placeholder>
CAUSE:
This is working as designed by Strategy. Objects in the “Report objects window” of a view report are the objects available within the cube the report is based on. However, they are not considered components of the report unless they have been added to the grid and saved.
ACTION:
Add the objects to the grid of the report in order for those objects to return in a component search.
