This technical note outlines an issue that occurs when updating a project schema in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x-10.x. A solution is offered.

SYMPTOM:
When updating Schema in 3-tier in Strategy Developer, the following error appears:

Error(s) occurred while loading schema: DSSSQLEngine: Schema loading error: Population Exception: The object shown in the following hierarchy no longer exists in schema: -Relation-Relationship The object definition is incomplete or inconsistent.
Error(s) occurred while loading schema: 54

Schema cannot be updated in 2-tier mode either, as the following error appears:

Specified cast is not valid

 
CAUSE:
One possible cause is that there is no table to define the relationship between two attributes, as shown in the screenshot below:

ACTION:
Define a relationship table if missing. Contact Strategy Technical Support if you need help to identify the faulty attribute(s).
